70% of Martech Vendors Ship an MCP Server. AI SDR Platforms Ship Almost None.

Key Takeaways

  • 38 of 54 martech vendors (70%) document a Model Context Protocol server; 34 (63%) publish an `llms.txt`.
  • 25 (46%) do both; 7 (13%) do neither: Clearscope, Cognism, MarketMuse, Anyword, Copy.ai, Demio and Regie.ai.
  • 5 of 6 AI SDR and conversational-sales platforms have no MCP server (11x, Artisan, Regie.ai, AiSDR, Qualified); Relevance AI is the exception.
  • Every CRM, every email platform and every sales-engagement tool in the corpus documents an MCP server.
  • Only 3 vendors publish the fuller `llms-full.txt`: Amplitude, Frase and Artisan.

70% of Martech Vendors Ship an MCP Server. AI SDR Platforms Ship Almost None.

Twelve months ago "MCP" was a spec most marketers had not heard of. We wanted to know how far the martech industry has actually moved on it, and on the humbler llms.txt, by checking rather than by reading announcements.

How many martech vendors publish llms.txt and an MCP server?

We used the same 54-vendor corpus as our other research audits. For llms.txt, we fetched the file at its two standard locations and accepted only a real markdown response, not an HTML page returned by a catch-all route. For MCP, we probed 26 standard documentation paths per vendor and the vendor's API reference, then, because MCP docs land in help centers and blogs as often as developer portals, we ran a site-restricted search for every vendor the probe missed and confirmed nine more.

Signal Vendors Share
llms.txt published 34 63.0%
MCP server documented 38 70.4%
Both 25 46.3%
Neither 7 13.0%
llms-full.txt also published 3 5.6%

Two thirds and seventy percent, for signals that barely existed in the industry eighteen months ago. That is fast adoption by any measure.

Which categories have shipped MCP, and which have not?

Category Vendors With MCP
CRM 6 6
Email and marketing automation 6 6
Sales engagement 6 6
Data enrichment 5 4 (Cognism without)
Analytics and attribution 6 5 (HockeyStack without)
SEO and content 7 4 (Clearscope, MarketMuse, Anyword without)
AI writing 5 3 (Copy.ai, Anyword without)
Social and LinkedIn tooling 3 2 (Sprout Social without)
Video and webinar 4 2 (Demio, Vidyard without)
AI SDR and conversational sales 6 1 (only Relevance AI)

The bottom row is the story. The tools built to be agents are the ones other agents cannot call. It is the same shape our public API docs audit found a layer down: four of the same six AI SDR vendors publish no API reference either. A product with no API and no MCP is a closed loop, however much AI is inside it.

At the top, the maturity is striking. HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho, Pipedrive, Close and Copper's peer group all document MCP. Klaviyo, Customer.io, Braze, Iterable, Mailchimp and ActiveCampaign all do. Outreach, Salesloft, Apollo, Instantly, Smartlead and lemlist all do, and Smartlead's help center describes 116 tools. Pipedrive's server runs at its own mcp.pipedrive.ai host with setup guides for Claude and ChatGPT.

Who publishes llms.txt, and who does not?

Thirty-four vendors do, and the list skews toward the same tools that ship MCP, which is what you would expect from teams that have decided agents are a channel. Twenty do not: Zoho CRM, ActiveCampaign, Salesloft, Lemlist, Clay, Clearscope, Ahrefs, Lusha, Mixpanel, Surfer, Cognism, MarketMuse, Heap, Anyword, Copy.ai, Buffer, Typeface, Taplio, Demio and Regie.ai. Several of those (Zoho, ActiveCampaign, Salesloft, Lemlist, Clay, Ahrefs, Mixpanel, Surfer, Lusha, Heap, Buffer) do ship MCP, so their omission of the file is a gap rather than a stance.

We are careful about what llms.txt is worth. AI Until I Die's census of 30 tech domains found the AI labs themselves largely do not publish it, and there is no public evidence any major crawler consumes it. What we can say is that in martech, at least, the file has crossed from novelty to norm, and that Amplitude, Frase and Artisan have gone further with llms-full.txt.

Who does neither?

Seven vendors: Clearscope, Cognism, MarketMuse, Anyword, Copy.ai, Demio and Regie.ai. Three are SEO and content tools, which is notable in a category whose entire pitch is visibility to machines. Copy.ai's product is literally an AI content platform. Regie.ai is an AI SDR platform. None of the seven is invisible to agents in any absolute sense, but none has built the two on-ramps the rest of the industry has.

What should a buyer take from this?

If your team is building or buying agents that need to act inside your stack, the MCP column above is now a real selection criterion, and it separates categories more sharply than it separates competitors within them. Any CRM or email platform in this corpus can be called; most AI SDR platforms cannot. Our consolidation guide argued that integration seams are where AI stacks fail. MCP is the seam-closer, and it has arrived unevenly.

What are the limits of this audit?

MCP documentation lives everywhere, so a path probe alone undercounts; we corrected that by searching every miss, and the nine additions are marked in the data file, but a vendor with MCP docs at an unusual location and poor search visibility could still be missed. "Documents an MCP server" is not "has a good one," and this audit did not test any. llms.txt presence was checked at the two standard locations only.
