  • 37 of 53 have a consent-management platform, and 31 of those still fired an ad pixel on first paint for a North American visitor.
  • The median homepage loads 7 named trackers across 18 third-party script hosts; Klaviyo tops the table at 14 trackers and 41 hosts.

What 53 Martech Homepages Load Before You Click Anything

The martech industry sells measurement. We wanted to see how much of it the industry runs on itself, from the only vantage point that matters: a stranger's first visit.

What does a martech homepage load before you touch it?

We took the same 54 vendors as our other research audits, loaded each homepage in headless Chromium, waited three and a half seconds after the document was ready, and saved everything that had been injected into the page. No scrolling, no clicks, no consent dialog answered. Salesforce served a bot challenge instead of a homepage, so the census covers 53.

Then we fingerprinted the rendered DOM against a fixed list of 40 tracker patterns and 18 consent-platform patterns.

Tracker Homepages loading it Share of 53
Google Tag Manager 46 86.8%
GA4 / gtag 39 73.6%
Google Ads 36 67.9%
LinkedIn Insight 33 62.3%
Meta Pixel 29 54.7%
Bing UET 19 35.8%
Reddit Pixel 19 35.8%
Microsoft Clarity 16 30.2%
X Pixel 13 24.5%
HubSpot 13 24.5%
Qualified 11 20.8%
6sense 9 17.0%
Intercom 8 15.1%
Amplitude / Hotjar 7 each 13.2%
TikTok / Segment / Vector / PostHog 6 each 11.3%

Google Tag Manager on 87% of pages is the least surprising number here and the most consequential, because a container can load anything its owner configures, on any trigger, at any later date. Everything below it in the table is a snapshot of what those containers were loading on 2026-08-16.

Forty-one of 53. That is the number to sit with. Three quarters of the companies that sell marketing measurement fire retargeting pixels at a first-time visitor before that visitor has done anything but arrive.

The LinkedIn Insight tag leads at 33 sites, which makes sense for an industry that lives on LinkedIn ads. The Meta Pixel at 29 is more interesting for B2B, and the Reddit Pixel at 19 is the finding we did not expect. More than a third of martech vendors are retargeting on Reddit, which says something about where B2B buyers are believed to research now.

We are not making a compliance claim. Our crawler ran from a North American IP, where no consent banner is legally required, and most consent platforms are configured to stay silent for non-EU visitors and load everything. That is exactly why the number is worth publishing: it is what an American or Canadian buyer receives, and it is the configuration the vendor chose for that buyer.

How many run visitor-identification tools?

Twenty-four of 53, or 45%, load at least one tool whose job is to resolve an anonymous visit to a company name: 6sense (9 sites), Vector (6), Demandbase (5), Leadfeeder (4), Clearbit Reveal (4), RB2B (3), Apollo's website tracker (3), and single instances of ZoomInfo WebSights, Factors.ai and Common Room.

This is the layer that connects to a question we have written about before: why so much B2B pipeline is untracked, and what teams do about it. Visitor identification is the industry's answer to dark social, and nearly half the industry runs it on its own front door. None of the 24 mentions it in the homepage copy, and a cookie banner that says "we use cookies to improve your experience" does not describe it either.

The vendors running it are not the fringe. Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Braze, Apollo, Clay, Amplitude, Mixpanel, Heap and Sprout Social are all on the list.

Not for a North American visitor. Thirty-seven of the 53 homepages have a detectable consent-management platform: HubSpot's cookie banner on 16, OneTrust on 12, Cookiebot on 7, Transcend and CookieYes on 4 each, and a long tail. Thirty-one of those 37 fired an ad pixel on first paint anyway.

Sixteen homepages have no consent platform we could detect at all: Zoho CRM, Close, Outreach, Smartlead, Seamless.ai, Semrush, Surfer, Clearscope, MarketMuse, Amplitude, PostHog, Typeface, Taplio, Vidyard, Livestorm and 11x. Seven of those load the LinkedIn Insight tag with no consent mechanism present: Close, Smartlead, Semrush, Surfer, Amplitude, Vidyard and 11x.

For a European visitor the picture would differ, and this census cannot say how. What it can say is that the presence of a consent platform, on its own, tells a North American visitor nothing about what loads.

Which homepages load the most, and which load nothing?

At the heavy end, thirteen homepages load ten or more named trackers: Klaviyo (14), Instantly (14), Cognism (14), Apollo (13), Demio (13), Close (12), Mailchimp (12), Jasper (12), Lemlist (11), Amplitude (11), Mixpanel (11), Heap (11) and Vidyard (10). Klaviyo and Cognism each call 41 distinct third-party hosts. The median across the corpus is 7 trackers and 18 hosts.

At the light end, three homepages load no third-party tracker from our list. PostHog runs only its own product, on its own hosts. Typeface loads nothing but its own first-party JavaScript. Zoho CRM appears to run self-hosted analytics and no third-party pixel. Three vendors out of 53 built their front door that way, and two of them sell analytics.

If you are tallying your own stack, this is the same question our martech stack explainer asks in reverse: not what tools you bought, but what tools your visitor is paying for in page weight and data.

What are the limits of this census?

One load, one location, one moment. Tag configurations change weekly, and a container that loaded eleven tags for us may load nine or fourteen tomorrow. Fingerprints are pattern matches on script hosts, so a tracker proxied through a first-party domain is missed; every count here is a floor. A 3.5-second settle misses tags that fire on scroll or time-on-page. And "before any click" describes behaviour, not legality; whether a given load is compliant depends on the visitor's jurisdiction, and ours was not one that requires a banner. The full per-vendor table, with every tracker and consent platform detected, is published alongside this piece.

FAQ

How many B2B SaaS homepages load ad pixels before consent?

In this census of 53 martech vendor homepages, 41 (77.4%) loaded at least one advertising pixel (Google Ads, LinkedIn Insight, Meta, Bing, TikTok, Reddit or X) before any click or consent interaction, as seen from a North American IP.

Which advertising pixels are most common on B2B marketing sites?

Google Ads (36 of 53), the LinkedIn Insight tag (33), the Meta Pixel (29), Bing UET (19) and the Reddit Pixel (19). TikTok and X pixels appear on 6 and 13 respectively.

What is a visitor-identification tool and how common is it?

A script that attempts to resolve an anonymous visit to a company name using IP and device signals, such as 6sense, Demandbase, Clearbit Reveal, Vector, RB2B or Leadfeeder. 24 of 53 martech homepages (45.3%) load at least one.

Does a cookie banner stop tracking scripts from loading?

Not necessarily. 37 of the 53 homepages have a consent-management platform installed, and 31 of those still fired an ad pixel on first paint for a North American visitor, because most banners are configured to appear only for visitors in jurisdictions that require them.

Which martech vendors load no third-party trackers?

Three of 53 in this census: PostHog (its own analytics only), Typeface (first-party scripts only) and Zoho CRM (no third-party pixel detected).
